Following changes to energy and climate change polices, government expect energy bills for businesses this year to exceed any previous years, according to a statement from the Department of Energy and Climate Change this week.
Whilst the jist of the statement was quite damning, no exact figure has been placed on the actual increase as yet.
“For the majority of business, energy costs form a small portion of total operating costs and the impact of policies is estimated to contribute to around 1% higher operating costs overall.” the statement read.
For their part the government have moved to introduce numerous measures to assist businesses and limit the impact ‘of policies on their competitiveness’.
The government has indicated that they are willing to assist businesses, seek out the ‘best deal that suits them’ in order to be seen to be taking a proactive approach to the revelation.
