Ecotricity is a small energy supplier based in Stroud in Gloucestershire that claims to be the greenest energy supplier in the country.
The company was founded by Dale Vince OBE who is also a United Nations Climate Champion.
Vince set up his very first business charing mobile phones at Glastonbury using wind power. He used windpower for his own day to day needs and that was when he decided that he bring green energy to the forefront in the UK. He set up his first windmill in Stroud in 1996 and it still produces power to this day.
The company has grown pioneering the use of green energy every since.
Ecotricity say that a business using 30,000 kWh would reduce its carbon footprint by six tonnes by switching to their plans.
The company offers the lowest prices to small to medium sized business, because they use less energy. They offer multi-site options, flexible billing and the option to use smart meters for larger business.
Sustainability
Companies can have their own wind turbines or solar panels fitted on their business sites to be able to access their own generated power. Anything left over could become an extra revenue stream for businesses, selling it back to the grid. Ecotricity’s Merchant Wind Power scheme will be built, owoned and operated by Ecotricity, so there is no risk to you. You will have access to green energy right on your doorstep when you need it.
They also have the option for businesses to join their Smart Grid. This helps businesses to balance their business electricity use and avoid peaks and troughs, which can cause higher bills.
Some of Ecotricity’s customers include Sainsbury’s, Ford, Riverford Organic Foods, Glastonbury Festival, Soho Coffee House and Vivienne Westwood.
Ecotricity has a team of business account managers, so each business has access to an expert to help them manage their energy usage.
Ecotricity is a little know entity compared to some of the household names we have come to know over the years, but with an impressive client list and strong vision for a carbon zero future, it is certainly one for businesses to consider is sustainable energy is high on their agenda.
The company pledges to invest the money they make into building more and more wind, sun and green gas mills to help generate more and more sustainable energy.
